A Personal Take from Sabra Johnson on Restoring the Cars That Move Us Most

Restorations by Sabra by Sabra Johnson

There’s nothing quite like the feeling of standing in front of a car that was once forgotten—and now roars back to life because someone believed in the dream. That’s what we chase at Restorations by Sabra. Not every collector car starts as a showroom star. Some start with rust, flat tires, and a vision. And the best part? They don’t have to cost a fortune to mean the world.

What we’ve curated here is a muscle car collection driven by passion, not just price. These aren’t just cars—they’re stories. They’re chapters of people’s lives rebuilt with precision, patience, and pride. Some are personal dream builds, some commissioned masterpieces, and all of them serve as proof that when you choose to restore instead of replace, you gain something far more valuable than horsepower: purpose.

1972 Chevelle – The Dream That Couldn't Wait Any Longer

“Someday” finally arrived with this 1972 Chevelle. Once a stock cruiser, it was reborn into the owner's lifelong dream of a custom Chevelle muscle car. Underneath the hood: a hand-built GM LS9 supercharged engine paired with an early 6L80e transmission, riding on a full performance chassis. Inside, a pro-touring interior blends luxury with function, and the stance is locked in with custom Forgiato wheels. This wasn’t just a build—it was a milestone. A statement that life doesn’t wait, and if you’ve got a dream car in mind, now’s the time to bring it home.

1967 Camaro – From Dealership Floor to Collector's Showpiece

Fully restored 1967 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible with fuel injection and modern braking system by Sabra Johnson

There’s something deeply satisfying about delivering a build that checks every box—and then some. This one-of-a-kind 1967 Camaro Convertible was commissioned by a Texas OEM dealer turned classic collector. Safety and drivability were at the core of the build, with fuel injection, modern disc brakes, and a Tesla-inspired electric braking system engineered in. What began as a vision was brought to life over 14 months—now proudly the crown jewel of his personal collection. It’s proof that classics can evolve while still honoring their roots.

1964 Buick Riviera – A Restoration with a Congregation

1964 Buick Riviera restoration with bagged suspension and vibrant custom paint from the Double Nickel Ranch Project

The Double Nickel Ranch Project reminds us how a restoration can do more than turn heads—it can bring people together. This Riviera started as a “restoration rescue,” but quickly became something more: a full custom build with a bagged chassis, Ford 9-inch rear end, a retro-modern performance bay, and bold interior refinements. Finished in a PPG Vibrancy paint scheme, this ride stops traffic—and sermons. When the owner brought it to church, the crowd’s response was so strong the Pastor joked, “Please don’t bring that car back to church… so I can have a congregation!”

1972 Corvette – A Survivor Car’s Second Life

Classic 1972 Chevrolet Corvette fully restored survivor with factory styling and modern performance refinements

Sometimes, the right car finds you. This 1972 Corvette was an ideal survivor—untouched and waiting to be reborn. Over 14 months, we gave it a full, in-house, nuts-and-bolts restoration. It’s one of those builds that proves not every dream car has to be chased across auctions or imported from halfway around the world. Sometimes it’s right in front of you, just waiting for the right hands to shape it back into greatness. And this Corvette? It wears that journey proudly.

2023 Camaro ZL1 – The Last of a Legend

Modern muscle 2023 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 with aggressive stance and factory supercharged performance

While most muscle cars here hail from decades past, the 2023 Camaro ZL1 represents the modern chapter of muscle. With Chevy sunsetting the Camaro line, this supercharged beast becomes a part of history in real time. Straight from the factory it’s a powerhouse, but it also symbolizes something bigger—the end of an era. Future collectible? Absolutely. But right now, it’s about enjoying the kind of power and aggression that only the Camaro badge ever delivered.

2025 Mustang GT – A Future Classic in the Making

The 60th Anniversary edition 2025 Mustang GT Convertible is a modern tribute wrapped in Wimbledon White with a Carmine Red interior. Tuned and detailed with concierge care by our team, this special edition Mustang is more than a daily—it’s a future collectible in motion. It balances heritage and innovation beautifully, with modern tuning and ceramic coating protection to match. For those looking to invest in something they can still enjoy every weekend, this car hits the sweet spot.

1966 Chevy II Nova – A Bucket List Built with Brotherhood

1966 Chevy II Nova restomod blending vintage styling with modern performance, built as a personal legacy project

Some builds carry more than horsepower—they carry history. This 1966 Nova restomod was commissioned by a close friend of mine, and it reflects everything we stand for at Restorations by Sabra. The original character remains intact, but it now boasts modern comfort, reliability, and drivability. It’s a car you can take to shows, take to dinner, or just take out for the joy of hearing that engine come to life. This Nova isn’t flashy—it’s timeless, just like the bond that inspired its build.

Why We Restore

These builds aren’t just proof of what’s possible—they’re a reminder of why we restore. Restoration gives new life not just to metal and rubber, but to memories, milestones, and meaning. Whether it’s a car you’ve always wanted or a project you passed down to your kids, these machines represent more than motion—they represent momentum.

And the best part? You don’t need to spend a fortune to be part of it.
